Sri Lanka Island Experience Tour - 11 Days / 10 Nights. Embark on a journey around the island to discover the greatest hits that Sri Lanka has to offer Negombo, Dambulla, Hiriwadunna Village, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya,  Kandy, Kitulgala, Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, Ella, Yala,  Galle, Bentota, for our friends to get an experience of the beautiful Island, Sri Lanka.  11 Days / 10 Nights – Sri Lanka Island Experience

DAY 01: Destination: Negombo

Destination: Negombo            Drive: Approximately 20 mins (15 km)

On arrival you will be met and assisted by our Airport Representative, who will direct you to your chauffer-guide.
Transfer to Negombo, a small fishing village on west coast of the country. Check in to the hotel.   

Dinner & overnight Stay: «Goldi Sands» in Negombo.


Day 02: Destination: Dambulla

Destination: Dambulla              Drive: Approximately 4 hours (129km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel. Leave for Dambulla to explore the famous Golden Rock cave temple which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, a vast isolated rock mass with its five caverns is the largest best preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka.

The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2,100 sq. meters) are of particular importance as are the 157 statues including a 47 foot long statue of the recumbent Buddha. The ceiling of one cavern is fully illustrated with paintings that follow the natural folds of the rock so closely that it appears to be made of cloth. The complex of caves is one of the most impressive Buddhist Temples in the world.

Transfer to Kandalama, a small village with excellent hotel accommodation and a central location to all the ancient city sites.

Check in to the hotel in Kandalama on arrival and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 03: Destination: Hiriwadunna Village / Polonnaruwa

Destination: Hiriwadunna Village              Drive: Approximately ½ hour (35 km)

After breakfast leave for the Hiriwadunna Village. Hiriwadunna situated in Habarana is small farming village where you will experience the simple lifestyle of our native culture. A morning bullock cart ride takes you through the country side up to the river. Here you catch the ferry to cross over to the opposite bank where a cup of ginger tea awaits you to freshen up.

Destination: Polonnaruwa              Drive: Approximately 1 hour (47 km)

Thereafter head on to one of the ruins of ancient Ceylon - the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the Capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to 13th century. A well-planned medieval city defended by enclosing walls (around 5 km. which still remain), graced by palaces, shrines, monasteries, pavilions, parks, ponds and irrigation lakes. Polonnaruwa is strewn with ruins in a resplendent state of preservation.

The ‘Gal Vihara’ which consists of statues of the recumbent, standing and seated Buddha have been cut from a single granite wall and rank among the true masterpieces of Sri Lankan Art.

Return to the hotel in Kandalama.

Day 04: Destination: Sigiriya / Kandy

Destination: Sigiriya               Drive: approximately ½ hour (35 km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel. Climb the rock fortress of Sigiriya - a 5th Century "Fortress in the Sky". Built by King Kassapa the fortress was a Royal Citadel for more than 18 years. Sigiriya, also called as the lion rock (UNESCO World Heritage Site) stands 200 metres above the scrub jungle. The base of the rock is ringed by a moat and rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens. The majestic Lion’s Paw picturesquely guards the stairway of the palace on the summit. See the famous frescoes of the “Heavenly maidens” of Sigiriya in a sheltered pocket of the rock and the 10 foot high Mirror Wall.

Destination: Kandy                  Drive: Approximately 3 hours (92 km)

Head on to the bustling hill capital of Kandy. Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon reaching Kandy, check-in to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After a short break, commence a city tour: take an upper-lake drive to the top of the hill where a bird’s eye view opens of the city below, visit the sacred Temple of Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, the gem museum and drive around the man-made Kandy Lake, known as the Kiri Muhuda or the Milky Ocean.

At 17:00 enjoy a Kandyan Cultural show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.

Day 05: Destination: Kitulgala / Nuwara Eliya

Destination: White Water Rafting in Kitulgala   Drive: Approximately 1½ hours (58km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel and leave for Kitulgala, a small town perched on the hills that slope down to the flowing waters of the Kelani River. Kitulgala is the most ideal place for water rafting in Sri Lanka as well as in whole South Asia. Kitulgala is also renowned for the famous film ‘bridge on the river Kwai’ that was filmed here half a century back. In 1957 the Blockbuster movie and the historic blowing up of the bridge during the train crossing was enacted on the Kelani River here in Kitulgala.

Enjoy a thrilling white water rafting session.

Destination: Nuwara Eliya                 Drive: Approximately 4 hours (104 km)

Transfer to Nuwara Eliya. En route visit a tea plantation and a tea factory. At the tea factory, witness the process of manufacture of tea from plucking of the green leaves to packing of the processed tea which is mainly meant for export markets.

The beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya, set in the heart of Tea country and situated 1890 meters above sea level, is where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne with well kept lawns with hedges.

Day 06: Destination: Horton Plains

Destination: Horton Plains               Drive: Approximately 1 hour (30 km)

Rise up early, pack your breakfast and by 05:30 am leave for Horton plains. A van takes you up to the entrance of the park and back. Horton Plains is the highest plateau in the country and one of the important National parks of Sri Lanka especially for its topographical variations. It has unique vegetation and is famous for many rare and endemic highland birds. The most awesome physical feature of the Horton Plains is the escarpment that falls 880 meters to the lowlands of the southern region of the island. Aptly known as the ‘World’s End’ the view from the precipice of the countryside below towards the south coast is spectacular.

Return to Nuwara Eliya upon completion, and at your convenience commence a sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the Nuwara Eliya Town, Market place, Golf Course, (one of the finest 18 holes Golf courses in Asia) the Hill club and drive around this hill station viewing Lake Gregory.

Day 07: Destination: Ella / Yala

Destination: Ella               Drive: Approximately 1½ Hours (56 km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel and proceed to Ella. Mountainous village Ella is considered one of the most scenic parts of the island. It is Famous for the Ella Gap – a gap in the mountains where you can see all the way up to the ocean on clear days and the Rawana Waterfall, a sight to behold with a scenic backdrop of mountains and valleys as well as the Rawana Falls is featured in the Rawana mythology, where Sita is said to have bathed at this waterfall while she was in captivity. Ella is also a base for plenty of trekking expeditions to the surrounding countryside and offers plenty of beautiful scenery and waterfalls.

Destination: Yala            Drive: Approximately 3 Hours (135km)

On completion proceed to Yala.  Check in to the hotel. Spend the evening at leisure.

Day 08: Destination: Yala / Galle / Bentota

Destination: Yala National Park                Drive: N/A

After an early breakfast commence a jeep safari in the Yala National Park by private jeep accompanied by a tracker. Yala National park one of Sri Lanka’s premier eco tourist Destinations and is renowned for its variety of wildlife notably its many elephants. It is also home to the spotted deer, sambar, wild buffalo, sloth bear, jackal, mongoose and crocodiles. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds in this park. Yala has a high concentration of Leopards although seeing these nocturnal carnivores still requires some luck.

Destination: Galle            Drive: Approximately 3½ hours (189 km)

Upon completion, check out of the hotel. Leave for Galle, the capital of the southern province is a city with a colorful history. A UNESCO declared World Heritage Site, the magnificent Dutch fort is the most popular attraction of the town. 300 year old Dutch atmosphere is still very much alive around the fort and amidst its many historical buildings not invaded by the skyscrapers.

The southern coastal belt is the most popular among the tourists and comes to life mainly from October through April when the monsoon moves northeast and the sea becomes calm with blue skies. The earliest European administrative centre of Sri Lanka was the major port and the largest city until the British shifted the port to Colombo. The City of Galle had been the European administrative centre over 4 centuries. Visit the Dutch Museum, the Walk along the narrow alleys upto the lighthouse and visit the Dutch Museum.

Destination: Bentota Beach           Drive: Approximately 1½ hours (52 km)

Transfer to Bentota, delightfully located along one of the finest beaches on the South West coast. Check in to the beach hotel.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure watching the waves as they bounce off the sun-kissed sands.

Day 09 & 10: Destination: Bentota

After breakfast spend the day at leisure relaxing by the Indian Ocean.

Day 11: Destination: Airport

Destination: Airport            Drive: Approximately 2½ hours (100 km)

After breakfast check out of the hotel at 09:00. Now that you are at the end of your journey with us, your chauffeur will comfortably take you to the international airport in time for your departure flight.

Reach the airport 03 hours before the departure. Departure flight is scheduled at 14:00.
